On its second quarter earnings call last week, UPS leadership highlighted a new initiative focused on ensuring smoother network operations, in tandem with upping its already very strong service levels. Entitled the Total Service Plan, which went into effect on July 11, UPS CEO Carol Tomé said on the earnings call that the Total Service Plan approach creates a more predictable operating environment enabling UPS to take more cost out and make its industry-leading service even better.
